Holidays

So I'm back at camp for a little while. We have a small family group who is enjoying the camp till Saturday morning. I'm not gonna lie, I was quite pissed to have to cut my holidays short to cater to a family, but it's not so bad. I think I'm just being selfish and just need to get over it. I'm gonna be back on holidays as soon as they leave, so its not it's that bad.

Being in Calgary was great. I didn't think I missed Calgary so much until I got home and finally started to relax. I got to do whatever I wanted and it felt nice for a change. I got to see Sammy alot which made me so happy. I love her so much. I got to drink alot, which is something I dont get to do much of at Camp, so that was nice. Plus I got to see alot of my friends which made it so much better. One of my best friends Josh is going to Australia for a Poker tournament which is so sweet, I'm really happy for him.

I did alot of thinking and planning about my future. I got my passport stuff in order, so I'll see where that takes me. But also I now have a place to live once I move back, and I have a guaranteed job (temporary or otherwise) as soon as I get back too. So that is a very good feeling. On Thursday and Friday I helped my old boss at Sunterra in the kitchen getting ready for the Christmas meals that they produce and it was good to be back in comfortable and familiar territory. So thats where I'll likely go back to if West Jet doesn't work out right away, which is not really what I wanted but it's better then being unemployed.

I thought more about going back to school and I figured I may stray a little from Psychology maybe go into Journalism. I dont know why I would choose journalism, but I think it would be a challenging field of expertise and it would open up my creativity and allow me to express my crazy idea's alot more. So who knows we'll see what happens. But my big concern is getting back to the city right now and I'll leave it at that.

I also thought about the kind of person I am and how I'm perceived. I've been known to intimidate people which I dont like about myself, but I hope that is changing. I've noticed lately that I have been alot more happier and that is a good thing. So I'm hoping that this happiness can spill over into making me a more positive person. Cause who likes being negative? It takes to much energy. Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'll make it a resolution to become a more positive, happier and laid back person. But I've realized that I cant do it alone, so whoever reads this, please help me out. I would love tips, advice, etc on how to bring out my more calm, laid back, happier self. I'd really love it.

Thats all for now. Thank you to everyone who I have ever met and I hope you had a great Christmas and that your new year in 2008 will be the best year of your life. God Bless and talk to you soon. Peace and One Love!

Pop is Pop Spelt Backwards

Hey guys. I know this is pretty late (4 days actually). But with the busyness of my schedule over the Christmas holiday in Calgary I never had time to. But I'm back at home and back to business when it comes to the Dirrty Needles Podcast. So Episode 6 is finally up (better late than never) and I'm pretty excited about this one. Its an all Pop (or somethings similar to pop) Cast. But dont worry it's none of your pre-fabricated bubblegum bull crap that the BSB's and Britney would spit out. This is more of the power-pop and rock type stuff that is actually authentic and tolerable. Theres some cheesy pop songs from back in the day as well, but mostly it's a happy go lucky hour and 15 minutes that I hope you'll enjoy. You know the drill when it comes to finding it. It's on iTunes and directly on the web on the castsite (click here:). Here's the playlist.

The Avalanches - Hearts In 3/4 Time
Happy End - Kaze Wo Atsumete
Vailhalen - Our House Is Host
Teenagersintokyo - Very Vampyr
Kid Koala - Fender Bender
Lily Allen - LDN
Sebastien Grainger - The Rhythm Method
Low Scores - Black Tape
Len - Steal My Sunshine
Benny Benassi - Satisfaction
Kenny Rogers - Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Is In)
Beck - New Pollution
Cardigans - Carnival
Sudden Infant Dance Syndrome - Zombie Song
The 5678's - I'm Blue
Gary Numan - Cars
Yo La Tango - Sometimes I Dont Get You
April March - Chick Habit
White Stripes - Walking With A Ghost (Tegan and Sara Cover)
KISS - I Was Made For Loving You
VHS Or Beta - Burn It All Down

Episode 7 will be a day early again because I'll be away on Monday, look for it on Sunday on iTunes bright and early.

Enjoy. One Love

Vacation Starts.......Now

Well I'm finally on my Christmas holidays. I'm pretty happy to be going back to Calgary for more than 48 hours this time. Plus I'm just happy for the time off. With my job, time off is a luxury so I take it when I can.

I'm gonna be in Calgary around noon tomorrow and I'm back at Gull Lake sometime on the 26th. I'm excited to just relax and see friends I haven't seen in sooo long. I'm probably gonna get some floor hockey in too at the church. I also plan to see Sammy as many times as I can once she's done exams. I'm also gonna get my passport stuff taken care of so I can finally get it. Which will help in my goal to become a flight attendant.

About that, maybe I'm just being impatient, but I'm really wondering if its gonna work out because I haven't heard back from them, and I've got a sneeky suspicion that I wont. So it's got me thinking about plan B or C or D, so on and so forth. But then I'm also thinking about going back to school, which in talking to Sammy tonight really put the bug in my brain. I've for sometime (since about grade 7) had the notion that Psychology would be a good field for me to be in, cause I've always enjoyed helping people sort out problems and such. My drawback was always either bad grades or not willing to spend so much time in University, so I've just put it on the back burner. But the idea keeps popping up from time to time I was even thinking about randomly yesterday and then strangely enough it came up again today with Sammy. Could God be telling me that this is a direction I should go? If so, where do I go from here? So while I'm in Calgary I need to figure out what it would take for me to go back to school, if that really is what I should do. Who knows, I get allot of crazy ideas that never really amount to anything. But more importantly I need to think about plan B if the Flight Attendant thing doesn't work. I'm thinking maybe Sunterra again, but I would need to make sure I would be making alot more money this time then when I left. Ah I feel like I'm rambling on and on about this.

I need to process things a little more, but I will keep you all posted. Peace and One Love!

Boogie Down

Episode 5 is up. It's a day early because I'll be in Calgary tomorrow (more on that later) and I have no idea whether I'd have enough time to record it, so I just made it easier on myself and did it today. Next weeks will be on Monday again with any luck. Then my friends, it's the big Best of 007 [007] podcast. I'm pretty stoked for that one. But anyway heres the playlist. Dry Spell

Hey guys. I didn't post last week as assured last week. I'm not really to sure why, but I guess I'm less creative when its really cold out. So this might just be a weekly thing for a while. I'll try to post more often but it'll be tricky cause I'll be busy for the next few weeks. But here we go for now.

My week last week was pretty uneventful. There were only a couple of things going on so not much to do around here. Thursdays floor hockey game with really good, for me at least. I scored 10 goals. I haven't done that in a long time. I guess I'm getting into better shape.

My weekend however was very good. It started off pretty interesting though. Dan was supposed to pick me up Friday morning at 7:30 to go to Calgary with April and Sarah Jane. So it rolls around and No Dan. I keep waiting....and waiting. Finally around 9:30 he calls me to say that his car is in the shop, his engine overheated (which I immediately found pretty funny considering it was minus 30 outside). So another call around 12:30, Dan asks me if I can drive the rest of the way. I said sure and we were finally on our way.

Friday night we all went to a Tea party at Cheri's. It was really cool. Just a bunch of camp people remembering funny stories and finding out the Bree has a lesbian secret admirer. Saturday I went to a lunch with my Grandma for her Heart Disease Group that she volunteers for. It was ok, but my Grandma was sooooooo happy that I came, so it was worth it I guess. Then had a fun afternoon with everyone on 17th Ave and then at Chris Naish's show. Later on Sammy, Chris, Jen and Myself went to Amsterdam Rhino and danced the night away. Alain showed up too later on which made me happy.

Sunday was a combo of sad, frustrating and scary all in one. Sad in that I had to leave Sammy again, leave Calgary which sucks, and drive in Edmonton. I hate Edmonton's roads. I really despise driving in that city with every ounce of my being. I just wish that Edmonton would explode off the face of the map (once everyone has left it of course). Thats my rant for the week.

I'm back in Calgary next Monday so my next podcast will probably be up on Sunday night since I'm not to sure if I'll be able to record in Calgary, we'll see. This weeks podcast is now up though. I'm really excited about this one. It's all Old School. Lots of 70's Funk, 80's Early Disco/House, with 1 hip-hop track and a Christmas song just for Sammy. I hope you like it. You of course know that you can download it from iTunes in the podcast directories of the iTunes store under: Dirrty Needles. Plus you can listen online on the cast site: Click Here!

Much love and I'll talk to you all soon. One Love.

Slum Village (Feat Q-Tip) – Hold Tight
Q –Tip (feat Busta Rhymes) – For The Nasty
Leaders Of The New School – Cast Of The P.T.A.
Arabian Prince – Strangelife

Heres a couple of note about some of the songs this week.

1.) The Talib Kweli/Consequence track is from an album Talib did with Madlib call 'Liberation' It was only available for download for a while, but now I think you can buy it online. Try hiphopsite.com.
2.) The Grey Album is a mashup album DJ Dangermouse (1/2 of Gnarls Barkley, 1/2 Dangerdoom) made about a year after Jay Z released the Black Album. He took the vocal tracks from the Black album and placed them over carefully mix instrumental tracks from the White Album by the Beatles. It was pretty groundbreaking and it almost got Danger in alot of trouble but since he never released it for sale, it never made any money off it, so really there was nothing Jay Z could do. After the Grey Album, many other small underground dj's started releasing their versions of the the Grey Album.
3.) The Isosceles and Mission tracks came off of a mix compilation that I got with a drum'nbass/hip hop magazine out of the UK called Knowledge. It featured a bunch of Canadian and British Underground Hip Hop and Drum n Bass MC's and DJ's. Great Stuff.
4.) You may have noticed that there are 5 tracks on this episode produced by the late J Dilla. The fourth being Baggage Handlers. This is off of rescently produced compilation put out by Mick Boogie and Busta Rhymes (a good friend of J Dilla, real name: James Yancey) called 'Dillagence. When I got downloaded this album it was for free, but I guess because of the overwhelming response they have also decided to sell it. Get it from Mick Boogies site. J Dilla died on February 6, 2006: Rest In Peace.
5.) Leaders of the New School was the group the Busta Rhymes was a part of before he started his own very successful solo career. The other members included: Charlie Brown, Dinco D, Cut Monitor Milo. I cheated a little on this one, I did look up the other members on wikipedia.
6.) Arabian Prince was one of the Original Members of N.W.A. He got his start in the Mid 80's as a breaks DJ/MC and was asked to provide some of his talents on the first 2 NWA albums ('NWA and the Posse' and 'Straight Outta Compton'). This song I got off a compilation put out by Stones Throw records as a sequel to the Chrome Children compilation they put out with Adult Swim records. You can buy this both albums from Stone Throw Records site. This label is also the label that houses alot of J Dilla material as well as Madlib, MF Doom, and many others. it was started in LA, 10 years ago by Peanut Butter Wolf.

Enjoy Kids. One Love.

So Long Ago

Sorry, its been a while since my last post. I haven't been doing to much other than working. This past weekend Gull Lake had its first 'Advent Retreat.' Formally known as the 'Down Home Christmas' it was cool to see some old counselors who I had when I was a camper. Funny story. My boss asked me if I could make Mulled Cider. But what I thought he said was Malt Cider. I looked at him kinda funny and said sure, but I'm not to sure how to make it, but I'll look it up on Google. He said it's like Apple Cider on speed. I agreed and kinda chuckled to myself. Needless to say 20 minutes later with a discouraged sound to my voice I said ''Oooooooh you mean Mulled Cider didn't you?''. That would've been a great way to kick start the Advent Season, but oh well.

I surprised Sammy last night by visiting her at work which was great. But on the way back I almost got into a pretty bad accident on Highway 2 lucky though nothing really happened, I just slid into the big ditch in between the directions of traffic and nothing else. Crazy weather.

Tonight I'm pretty excited for the next episode of the Dirrty Needles Podcast. It's gonna be a Hip-Hop show but it'll be alot of not so well known stuff with crazy instrumentals. I'm looking forward to it. Look for it.

This weeks pretty quiet for me so look for alot of blogs.

One Love yall.
